Reflections on working at Student Minds

At Student Minds, our passionate and innovative team brings our work to life. We want people to thrive with us; we believe our team does their best work when they feel their best. Our team comes first and we are proud of our culture. We offer a supportive, flexible and enjoyable place to work.

Read what members of our staff team have to say about their experience of working at the charity:
Dom, Student Voice and Equality Lead: “I’ve been with the team for over four years now and I’m still enjoying every single day here. I love working at Student Minds for three reasons - the work, the team and the culture. The work we do is important to me on a personal level and seeing the impact we have keeps me motivated to continue. I’m constantly stretched and challenged with the work and feel like I’ve always been learning and developing. The team and the culture go hand-in-hand. I think it is rare to have an organisation that has, on both a people and a policy level, so much flexibility and support built into how we work. Humour, connection and compassion seem to be core to how we work as a team and I value that every day.”

Kate, Fundraising Officer: “Right from my first day at Student Minds, I felt like my voice mattered. The culture is extremely compassionate and supportive, which has helped me to feel confident in my abilities and grow significantly during my time here. It's also great to work alongside a group of people who are passionate and engaged, and to feel like the work we are doing is making a genuine difference. Student Minds embraces flexibility, with a recognition that people have lives and challenges outside of work. I would definitely recommend applying to join the team!”

Krishna, Design and Digital Manager: “I have been working at Student Minds for almost 6 years and have also had the pleasure of being involved with the charity before this, from the varying perspectives of a student, campaigner and intern. One thing that I have always loved about the charity is that they care about the mental wellbeing of not just students and volunteers across the country, but also the individuals within the charity. It is amazing to be part of such a caring, open and passionate team and to be in an organisation that invests in your growth and development.”

Leigh, Sector Improvement Lead: “Since starting Student Minds I've been challenged and stretched to achieve things I never imagined I'd be able to and having the support of the team means it's always felt doable. The impact we have for students and the organisations we work with is immense. Not only have I grown professionally, working with a team that truly embodies their values has helped me grow as a person, too.”
Grace, Communications Manager: “After 5 and a half years of working at Student Minds, I still enjoy coming to work everyday. One thing I really admire about the organisation is its flexibility, this was highlighted when we adapted to remote working. We learnt through this process together, ensuring hours worked for people, adjusting where needed, promoting the importance of breaks and checking in with ourselves and each other. The charity takes a person-centred approach, ensuring that your work and development is tailored to your needs. Overall, my top thing about working at Student Minds has to be working every day with fun, understanding and collaborative colleagues. No matter what challenge I’m facing or if we need to celebrate a win I know the team will always be on hand to do this with me.”
