Universities and Students' Unions

Donations from Universities and Students' Unions

We’re always grateful when universities decide to support our work. Whether you’re looking to donate from an institution as a whole, a school or a department, your generosity will enable us to continue empowering students and members of the university community to develop the knowledge, confidence and skills to look after their own mental health, support others and create change.

By publicising your donation to Student Minds you will also be increasing students’ awareness of the support we offer to ensure that no student is held back by their mental health.

Here are a few ways your institution can support us:

  • Survey incentives: If you’re looking to increase engagement through the National Student Survey, Postgraduate Research Experience Survey or any other survey, why not encourage students to donate by promising to make a donation for every student who completes the survey?

  • Election incentives: Donations can also increase engagement with SU or course representative elections. Simply pledge to make a donation for every student who participates.

  • One-off Donations: You can make a one-off online donation at any time. Why not mark University Mental Health Day with a donation to support student mental health? If you’d prefer to make a bank transfer, get in touch to ask for our bank details.

  • Initiate a staff or student fundraising challenge and match donations raised: Fundraising challenges can be a great way to bring members of your university community together to do something positive. By offering to match the money raised it will encourage participants to work even harder to raise donations from their networks and give them a greater sense of achievement.

Depending on the level of your support, we’d be able to thank you on social media, in our annual impact report and on our website.

If you’re a student or staff member and you’d like help with asking your institution to make a donation, get in touch and we’ll always be happy to support.

You can contact our team with any questions via fundraising@studentminds.org.uk.

Quote from Neil McKay, Sheffield Hallam University. Sheffield Hallam have supported Student Minds through the NSS since 2017/18: ‘Our students’ mental health and wellbeing is a priority for us. Together with our Students’ Union we are proud to be a long-time supporter of Student Minds, the UK’s only student mental health charity. Student Minds and its Mental Health Charter framework have been and continue to be influential in developing our approach to supporting our students.’
