How can I use these guides with my students?
Know Before you Go and Transitions have been designed in a way that allows flexibility in how they are used, appealing directly to students as well as academic and support staff. We would encourage you to use the information in the guides in a way that will most benefit your students. Examples of how the information could be engaged with include;
Staff working with students as they prepare for university;
Staff working with students at university;

Staff working with students as they prepare for university;
- Know Before you Go can be used as a teaching/discussion tool with your class PSHE lessons or as part of sessions with students completing their UCAS forms
- Linked to on your institutions websites. (We would suggest in a prominent position alongside similar information about moving into higher education)
- Signposted to with information given out on results day
- Postcards linking to Transitions placed in libraries, common rooms, accommodation, reception areas (available to download here).
Staff working with students at university;
- Transitions can be used by student services/counselling teams as a resource to direct students to fro your webpages or refer to within appointments.
- Widening participation teams may want to send the Know Before you Go guide to schools who you work with, preparing students for university.
- Chapters being signposted to individually as a range of newsletters/nudges
- During peer support groups, with students using the guides as prompts for discussion of their own experiences
- Signposted to in information packs sent out at induction, Fresher’s or enrolment sessions
- Signposted to in information given out with conditional/unconditional offers
- Postcards linking to Transitions placed in libraries, common rooms, accommodation, reception areas (available to download here).

Can I print the guides?
The guides are currently best used as online resources. They contain signposting, videos and student stories that can be accessed via links alongside the text.
Whilst we encourage you to think of the guides as e-resources we understand that there may be times when a printed version is best. You are able to print the guides from the above links, and use as per the copyright/licence details below. See also, the question below about next steps for the project!

What are the next steps for the Transitions to University project?
Releasing these guides as open access resources to schools, colleges and universities across the UK is the first stage of our project to support students during their transition period.
We will be collecting feedback over the next academic year (see question below for how you can contribute), working with our partners in Canada and collaborating with UK based mental health and education experts to develop the guides further.
Plans may include creating lesson plans to accompany specific chapters and developing training to equip staff and students to run transition focussed workshops.
