A Guide to Podcasting About Mental Health

A Guide to Podcasting About Mental Health

Podcasting can be a powerful tool for talking about mental health. Hearing someone’s voice as they tell their story can help bring the words to life, and can  show listeners that  they are not alone.

We worked with our male student volunteers to create Changing Mentality, a student-led mental health podcast hosted by men across the country on men’s mental health.

We have learnt a lot from this process and want to help you to run your own podcast on mental health. Explore our tips on:

  • Practically getting set up
  • Planning and managing production
  • Running a podcast
  • Facilitation skills
  • How to look after yourself at the same time

Well Lads was a three-year project on men’s mental health in higher education run by us at Student Minds, the UK’s student mental health charity, and supported by funding from Comic Relief between 2018 and 2021.
