Working with Students: Our Student Advisory Committee

At Student Minds working with, and listening to, students is a key pillar of our work. It is your lived experiences that shape our mission and help us to understand the opportunities and challenges for our higher education communities.

The Student Advisory Committee (SAC) is a part of our organisational structure and supports us with all aspects of our work. Currently made up of 20 students, recent graduates, and sabbatical officers, the group meets quarterly to discuss a range of issues.  Read more about their amazing insights, expertise and experience in the reflections below.

2024 meeting reflections

July 2024

In the third meeting of 2024, SAC came together to discuss hopes and aspirations for what they want to see the new government achieve and how we can empower students to better advocate for themselves when reaching out for mental health and wellbeing support.

February 2024

This February saw our new 2024 cohort of the Student Advisory Committee (SAC) meet for the first time. Our February meeting covered our approach to content, including our plans for Student Space, and the upcoming University Mental Health Day.

During April's meeting, the SAC discussed the experiences of disabled students, the funding of higher education institutions, and advised us on both our influencing and student engagement strategies moving forward.

2023 meeting reflections

November 2023

The SAC met for the fourth time where they ran an evidence session for upcoming Student Mental Health Manifesto work, discussed student housing, and had time to look back on another great year for our SAC.
