ThriveThrive has been designed to help you explore what good wellbeing and self-care look like for you whilst connecting with other students like you from your university. During this course, you’ll be given tools, questions and a supportive atmosphere designed to encourage you to think about how you can include activities into your everyday life to enable you thrive, whilst managing your studies and life’s challenges.
Our student volunteers are trained to facilitate your sessions as peer supporters, and they are or have recently been students just like you, so our programme is completely peer-led. Facilitators can’t give you advice but they can help you understand which services are available, if you think you would benefit from more formal support, and they can also help you consider which service(s) might be more suitable for you. |
“I think the dynamic of the session and how the session leaders were very calm and welcoming with their instructions/advice. There were no awkward moments and it felt like I was genuinely attending a session where I could talk openly and freely rather than a rigid one where I passively listen. |
The course
Thrive is an online peer support course which covers a different topic each week. The sessions will take place via Zoom, and they will last for an hour and a half, taking place on the same time and day each week. Our topics provide the basis of the sessions, but there is some flexibility to enable you to tailor the discussions to your experiences and needs. Here are some topics that will be covered:
Week 1 - What is Wellbeing?
Week 2 - Self-Care and Time Management
Week 3 - Stress and Setbacks
Who can attend
We are currently piloting Thrive online on a small scale at the University of Nottingham, the University of Bath, and the University of Southampton. If you are studying with any of these universities, you can sign up to attend any of the course sessions. The course will be most beneficial to you if you can attend all sessions because the more techniques and skills you learn, the easier it will be for you to support your own wellbeing and self-care in the longer-term.
