Exciting News: Student Minds and Mental Wealth UK have merged!
We are delighted to announce that Student Minds and Mental Wealth UK have come together to make a louder noise about student mental health.
The two leading charities working to enhance the mental health of students across the UK have merged, bringing together two key elements in improving student wellbeing: student-led campaigning and peer support. We are really excited about the future of the new charity to make a real impact in terms of research, support and awareness.
In joining forces, we are going to be able to extend the range of support we can offer both to students and to higher education institutions. We will be able to open up new volunteering and training opportunities and support a wider range of projects.
As of this month the organisations have united under the Student Minds name, marking the beginning of our exciting journey!
Dr Nicola Byrom, Founding Director of Student Minds:
“I have always believed passionately in the power that students have to change the world around them. I know that as a society we have to change the way we think about mental health and respond to mental health problems. I believe that this starts with giving everyone the confidence to talk about mental health and understand that the support they can offer friends and peers who are experiencing mental health problems can make a real difference. Taking on a campaigning arm, we will really be able to shout louder than ever before. I know that bringing more volunteers together from all around the country will give the whole network more power to make real change for student mental health.”
Rosie Tressler, Development Officer for Mental Wealth UK:
“I’m really excited to join the Student Minds team and to continue developing the national network of student mental health activists. By pursuing a more joined-up approach, we will have a stronger voice and can expand the training and resources available to our volunteers, who are the stars and drivers of this important work.”

Student Minds is the UK’s student mental health charity.
We empower students and members of the university community to develop the knowledge, confidence and skills to look after their own mental health, support others and create change. We train students and staff in universities across the UK to deliver student-led peer support interventions as well as research-driven campaigns and workshops. By working collaboratively across sectors, we share best practice and ensure that the student voice influences decisions about student mental health.
Together we will transform the state of student mental health so that all in higher education can thrive.
